KUWAIT, Feb 9 (KUNA) -- Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology and Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Omar Al-Omar, received on Monday the ministers and heads of delegations participating in the 52nd meeting of the UN Tourism Organization's Regional Commission for the Middle East.
Kuwait is set to host the high-level commission meeting tomorrow Tuesday to discuss strategic priorities for regional tourism development.
Among the arriving dignitaries were the Saudi Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al-Khatib; the UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdullah Al-Marri; the Bahraini Minister of Tourism, Fatima Al-Serafi; the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy; the Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Dr. Ahmad Al-Badrani; the Sudanese Minister of Culture, Khalid Ali; the UN Tourism Organization Secretary-General, Sheikha Al-Nuwais; and the Secretary-General of the Arab Tourism Organization, Dr. Mohammed Zaazou.
They also include the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Yazan Al-Khudair; the Head of the Tourism Development Sector and Vice-Chair of the Regional Committee of the World Tourism Organization, Omar Al-Jaber; and the Assistant Minister of Tourism of the Syrian Arab Republic, Engineer Ghiath Al-Farah.
The meeting aims to synchronize member state efforts toward sustainable tourism, aligning with global economic shifts to diversify national income sources. Key agenda items focus on balancing rapid economic growth with resource conservation.
In parallel, the "Enhancing Tourism through Artificial Intelligence" conference and workshop will be held. These sessions highlight the integration of emerging technologies to modernize service delivery, boost sector efficiency, and foster innovation across the Middle Eastern tourism landscape. (end)
