Kuwait condemns Israeli occupation measures in West Bank

KUWAIT, Feb 9 (KUNA) -- Kuwait strongly condemned the decisions and actions taken by Israeli occupation forces that impose an illegal reality in the West Bank, reinforcing settlement expansion and asserting control over occupied territories to alter the historical and demographic status quo.
In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the need for the international community and the UN Security Council to oppose these measures, describing them as undermining prospects for peace and the two-state solution. The statement highlighted that such actions violate international law, established norms, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334 of 2016, as well as the 2024 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which affirmed the illegality of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories and called for their immediate cessation.
Kuwait reiterated its firm support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of an independent state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, while urging the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in halting these violations.
