Kuwait, UNHCR discuss boosting cooperation

GENEVA, Feb 9 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Nasser Al-Hain, emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between Kuwait and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) across various humanitarian fields.
Al-Hain made the remarks during a meeting with the newly appointed UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Bahram Salih, on Monday, following his recent discussions with member states on the UNHCR's work and future role, held at the UN office in Geneva.
The meeting focused on ways to support the strategic partnership between Kuwait and the UNHCR, particularly in responding to humanitarian crises and strengthening international efforts to protect refugees and displaced persons while meeting their basic needs worldwide.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Hain reaffirmed Kuwait's ongoing commitment to supporting the UNHCR and its humanitarian programs, in line with Kuwait's longstanding humanitarian approach and the directives of its leadership.
In turn, High Commissioner Bahram Salih expressed deep appreciation for Kuwait's continuous support and highlighted the close partnership between the two sides.
Salih also conveyed his greetings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, praising Kuwait's leading humanitarian role and its support for global humanitarian causes.
