MUSCAT, Feb 7 (KUNA) -- The Fifth West Asia Para Games (Muscat 2026) concluded on Saturday in the Sultanate of Oman, with Iraq crowned overall champions following a highly competitive tournament featuring 11 nations.
The Iraqi team topped the medal table with a total of 92 medals: 50 gold, 27 silver, and 15 bronze. Saudi Arabia finished as runners-up with 80 medals: 37 gold, 32 silver, and 11 bronze, while the United Arab Emirates secured the third place with 66 medals: 18 gold, 22 silver, and 26 bronze.
The remaining competitors: the Sultanate of Oman, Jordan, Bahrain, Syria, Qatar, Lebanon, Palestine, and Yemen, ranked from fourth to eleventh respectively.
The championship kicked off last Tuesday, featuring over 600 male and female athletes across various para-sport classifications. (end)
