India, EU discuss deeper cooperation at 1st India EU Forum

NEW DELHI, Feb 7 (KUNA) -- India and the EU discussed on Saturday ways of deepening cooperation in various fields at the inaugural edition of the India EU Forum held in New Delhi.
A statement from the Indian External Affairs Ministry said that the inaugural India EU Forum, held in New Delhi from 6-7 February, discussed ways of deepening trade, technology, energy, connectivity, defence, and mobility, and explored future areas of collaboration.
In the event hosted by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs in collaboration with Ananta Centre, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal delivered speeches on trade, industry and economic engagement.
Greek Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias also addressed a special fireside chat at the Forum which saw the participation of around 200 participants including 95 speakers from government, industry, think tanks, and academia from India and Europe.
"Over the course of two days, spanning across 16 thematic sessions, the discussions focused on various avenues for strengthening India's relations with EU as well as member states in areas of trade, technology, energy, connectivity, defence, and mobility, and explored future areas of collaboration," the statement said.
