India condemns Islamabad mosque attack, rejects allegation of involvement

NEW DELHI, Feb 6 (KUNA) -- India denied any role in and condemned the suicide attack targeting a Shia mosque in Islamabad during the Friday prayer that killed 31 people and injured 169 others.
Indian External Affairs Ministry said in a statement: "The bombing at an Islamabad mosque earlier today is condemnable and India condoles the loss of life it has caused." It further said that Pakistan should address the internal issues seriously and desist from blaming others for its internal problems.
"It is unfortunate that, instead of seriously addressing the problems plaguing its social fabric, Pakistan should choose to delude itself by blaming others for its home-grown ills," it said.
New Delhi categorically rejected any involvement in the incident after Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif hinted at the involvement of India and Afghanistan in the deadly blast in Islamabad.
"India rejects any and every such allegation, which is as baseless as it is pointless," the statement said.
The Pakistan Defence Minister had wrote on his X account: "It has been proved that the terrorist involved in the attack travelled to and from Afghanistan. There is evidence of the nexus between India and Afghanistan." (end) atk.ibi
