Berlin's airport suspends all flights due to weather conditions

BERLIN, Feb 6 (KUNA) -- Berlin airport announced on Friday that all flights to and from the international airport remain suspended due to weather conditions and continued snowfall.
In a press statement, the airport said that the ongoing snowfall, and at times freezing rain, makes takeoffs and landings impossible.
Authorities worked throughout the night to repair the runways and prepare them for operation, but these efforts proved unsuccessful, leading to the continued suspension of flights.
The statement urged passengers to either cancel their travel plans or contact their respective airlines.
Germany has been experiencing extraordinary winter weather for several weeks, with heavy snowfall and freezing rain increasing the risk of slipping. (end) anj.res
