HAVANA, Feb 6 (KUNA) -- Cuban President Miguel D?az-Canel announced that his government will launch an emergency plan next week to address the impact of fuel shortages, blaming "US policies" for disruptions to oil supplies.
In televised remarks on Thursday, D?az-Canel said the government would take urgent, temporary measures requiring "significant effort" to manage the acute fuel shortfall.
He noted that Cuba has not recently received oil shipments from Venezuela, its main supplier, amid heightened tensions and restrictions affecting energy flows.
D?az-Canel stressed that Cuba "poses no threat to the United States," reiterating his country's readiness for dialogue with Washington without pressure or preconditions.
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Thursday that Cuba is facing serious economic difficulties, adding that US President Donald Trump remains open to diplomatic engagement. (end)
