India, Tanzania agree to deepen defence coop.

NEW DELHI, Feb 3 (KUNA) -- India and Tanzania on Tuesday agreed to deepen bilateral defence cooperation during the fourth edition of the Joint Defence Cooperation Committee.
A statement from the Indian Defence Ministry said that during the Joint Defence Cooperation Committee meeting between India and Tanzania held in Zanzibar from 02-03 February, both countries reviewed ongoing defence cooperation and discussed a broad range of areas for further collaboration.
They discussed military training, service-to-service cooperation, maritime security and defence industry collaboration and explored new avenues such as counter-terrorism, peacekeeping training, and capacity building in niche areas including electronic warfare cyber, and AI with a view to further strengthening bilateral defence ties, the statement said.
Cooperation in military medicine was identified as a potential new area of cooperation as both sides agreed to initiate cooperation between their Air Forces, complementing the existing cooperation between the two Navies and Armies.
Joint Secretary (Defence Cooperation) at the Defence Ministry Amitabh Prasad led the Indian delegation while Tanzanian delegation was led by Chief of Operations and Training at the Tanzania People's Defence Force Ibrahim Mhona.
India and Tanzania share a close, warm, and strategic partnership guided by a five-year roadmap. (end) atk.mt
