KUWAIT, Jan 31 (KUNA) -- Japan's Ambassador to Kuwait Mukai Kenichiro affirmed that Japanese-Kuwait cooperation will witness a major expansion across multiple sectors, including energy, water, technology, food and culture.
In a statement on Saturday, Ambassador Kenichiro highlighted expanding cooperation prospects through 2026, particularly in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and advanced materials.
Ambassador Kenichiro also highlighted opportunities to strengthen cooperation in existing sectors such as power generation and water management using advanced Japanese technologies to support Kuwait Vision 2035.
Both countries are also seeking to expand cooperation into emerging sectors, particularly clean energy and decarbonization, he added.
As part of this effort, Ambassador Kenichiro said that a workshop, "The Road to Decarbonization," was held in Kuwait on January 21 this year in partnership with Mitsubishi Research Institute, Mitsubishi Corporation, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS).
In the food sector, he welcomed the recent approval of Japanese Wagyu beef exports to Kuwait, and the Embassy plans to host promotional events to introduce it to Kuwaiti consumers.
On cultural and sports exchanges, Ambassador Kenichiro announced plans to host an exhibition of traditional Japanese Yakishime pottery in April.
He expressed hope that Kuwait would compete in the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026), scheduled for September and October.
The Ambassador also revealed the launch of an Arabic-language Instagram account (@japan.arabic_culture), dedicated to introducing Japanese traditions and culture to Arabic audiences.
Ambassador Kenichiro affirmed his country's commitment to further strengthening Japan-Kuwait relations at governmental, private, and grassroots levels throughout 2026, building on the significant progress achieved in 2025.
During the visit of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to Japan last May, both countries agreed on a comprehensive strategic partnership and signed five agreements covering areas such as water and electricity.. (end) ao
