Kuwait wins Arab Publishers Association vice presidency in Cairo elections

CAIRO, Jan 27 (KUNA) -- Kuwait secured the vice presidency of the Arab Publishers Association (APA) Tuesday after elections held in Cairo to form a new board for the 2026-2028 term, reinforcing its growing presence in publishing institutions.
APA said in a statement that the vote resulted in election of Egypt's Mohammad Rashad as president, while General-Director of Kuwait's publishing house That Al-Salasil Saud Al-Mansour won the post of vice president, marking his fifth term as a board member.
The statement added that 29 candidates from 11 Arab countries competed for 16 posts on the new board.
It noted that the General Assembly also reviewed the board's report on activities during the 2022-2025 term, including major events, as well as the association's financial and administrative performance.
Founded in 1962 by the Arab League and headquartered in Cairo, APA aims to protect intellectual property rights and advance the publishing industry across the Arab world.
It currently includes more than 1,250 publishers representing 20 national publishing associations, in addition to members from countries without local publishers' Association. (end) mm.sar
