Storm Chandra causes flooding, disrupts life in UK

LONDON, Jan 27 (KUNA) -- Storm Chandra arrived in the UK on Tuesday, bringing in strong winds, flooding, and snow and disrupting life through travel delays and school closures and other mishaps.
British media outlets are reporting updates on the current developments of the storm with the BBC saying that three English Football League matches for today were postponed.
Storm Chandra hit southern England, shutting down roads and rail lines, snow was also reported the north of the country, causing similar mayhem.
On Monday, the Metrological Office said that Storm Chandra was approaching and was expected to bring in strong winds, heavy rain and snow tomorrow across the country.
The Met Office issued an amber warning for heavy rain in southwest England with rainfall expected between 30 to 50 millimeters for the region.
London, the South East, and the South West, as well as parts of Wales and Northern Ireland were also issued a yellow alert for heavy rain.
The office warned of flooding and indicated that there will be expected transport delays and possibly cancellations in addition to other emergencies.
The storm comes after Storm Ingrid hit England's southwest last Friday and Saturday.
