Israeli occupation recovers remains of last soldier held by Palestinian factions in Gaza

GAZA, Jan 26 (KUNA) -- Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip announced on Monday the recovery of the last soldier's corpse held by Palestinian factions from a cemetery in the Al-Shuja'iya neighborhood, east of Gaza.
In a statement, the forces said that after completing identification procedures at the National Center of Forensic Medicine and in coordination with Israeli security forces, the family of the soldier, Ran Ghafli, was notified of the return of his corpse from Gaza.
Israeli forces had announced on Sunday night a military operation in Al-Shuja'iya targeting a cemetery in search of the soldier's corpse, amid artillery shelling, live gunfire, and intensive reconnaissance flights.
Hamas Movement, in a press statement, said it provided mediators with the necessary information, which facilitated the recovery of the body.
The Israeli authorities are expected to partially reopen the Rafah land crossing after nearly 20 months of closure, contingent on the return of the remains of the last Israeli soldier, allowing limited movement of travelers. (end) wab.aa
