Iraqi PM meets US envoy on Syria

BAGHDAD, Jan 22 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani discussed with US Ambassador to Turkiye and Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack the situation in Syria and the joint efforts to combat terrorism.
During the meeting, Al-Sudani underscored the importance of security in neighboring Syria for Iraq and the entire region, according to a statement released by his office on Thursday.
He called for greater cooperation to stabilize Syria and ensure its territorial integrity.
Commending as constructive the partnership with the United States in the areas of counter-terrorism, economic cooperation and sustainable development, Al-Sudani called for more bilateral and multilateral efforts to secure prosperity in Iraq and the region. On his part, Barrack said US President Donald Trump appreciates the efforts of the Iraqi government in supporting regional stability and combating terrorism. (end) ahh.hss.gb
