MANAMA, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- Bahrain welcomed on Monday the Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa's announcement of a new agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) aimed at achieving a ceasefire and restoring security and stability in conflict areas.
In a statement, Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the agreement also provides for the integration of armed elements into the Ministries of Defense and Interior, the reinforcement of state authority in eastern and northeastern regions, and the transfer of control over oil fields, describing these measures as supportive of Syria's unity and sovereignty.
The ministry reaffirmed Bahrain's firm and longstanding support for Syria's security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as the completion of its constitutional institutions in line with the aspirations of the Syrian people for security, social stability, and sustainable prosperity, and the restoration of Syria's active role regionally and internationally.
In a separate statement, the ministry expressed Bahrain's sympathy and solidarity with Spain following a high-speed train collision in the Andalusia region that resulted in multiple deaths and injuries, offering condolences to the Spanish government and people and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
