KUWAIT, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Sport (PAS) Bashar Abdullah Al-Salem said Kuwait Sports Day, set for February 7, reflects the state's vision of making sports a way of life and the political leadership's commitment to supporting community sports, public health and quality of life.
In a press statement on Monday, Al-Salem said government institutions are promoting community sports as an effective tool for health prevention, social cohesion and discovering youth talent.
PAS is coordinating with the Kuwait Sport for All Federation (KSFAF), as well as government and civil bodies and the private sector, to ensure the event's success, he noted.
He underscored that Kuwait Sports Day is not limited to physical activities, but also delivers an awareness message targeting all segments of society, including children, youth, the elderly and people with disabilities, reinforcing inclusion and equal opportunities as well as the idea that sport is a right for everyone.
The event's programs and activities were carefully prepared to suit different ages and abilities, encouraging an active and sustainable lifestyle in line with Kuwait Vision 2035 and PAS' 2022-28 strategy, Al-Salem mentioned.
He commended the state's support for sports federations and clubs, the media's contribution to amplifying the event's message and raising public awareness, and the private sector's effective partnership in supporting activities.
PAS will continue expanding inclusive community sports initiatives and boosting participation to strengthen Kuwait's regional and international profile, he added.
Al-Salem urged citizens and residents to take part in Kuwait Sports Day and turn it into a daily habit. (end)
