British PM: Security in Greenland, High North NATO "priority"

LONDON, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Monday that security in Greenland and the High North was a priority for all NATO allies to protect Euro-Atlantic interests.
During phone calls with some leaders, including Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and US President Donald Trump, Starmer reiterated his position on Greenland, saying that Trump's plans to impose tariffs on allies for pursuing collective security within NATO allies were "wrong".
President Trump announced Saturday that the US will impose 10-percent tariffs on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Britain, the Netherlands, and Finland as of next month as punishment for the latter countries' opposition to the American plans to take Greenland. (end) mrn.gta
