LONDON, Jan 15 (KUNA) - The UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper welcomed on Thursday the commitment to move forward with the second phase of the Gaza plan, as well as the formation of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.
In a press release, Cooper said, "I welcome the commitment to move to Phase 2 of the Peace Plan, including the announcement of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of Gaza." She called, as well, for "addressing the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza with increased aid." Cooper affirmed that all involved parties must commit to the 20-point peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump.
"These transitional measures should be delivered with the support of the international community, in accordance with international law, with respect for Palestinian sovereignty and self-determination, and in support of a two-state solution," she noted.
Asserting the British position on the issue, she said, "The UK has been consistently clear that the future of Gaza must be Palestinian-led." The US announced recently that the plan, devised by President Trump, will go ahead with second phase to end the war in the Gaza Strip and form a technocratic government in the devastated enclave.
