KUWAIT, Jan 14 (KUNA) - The forum titled "Towards a Promising Cultural Future for the Electronic Gaming Industry in Kuwait" launched Wednesday, organized by the Arab Open University over two days in cooperation with the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL).
Speaking at the opening, Arab Open University President Dr. Salah Al-Hammadi said the forum aligns with Kuwait Vision 2035 by supporting the knowledge economy, empowering youth, and promoting innovation and sustainability, noting the university's three academic programs related to the sector in design, programming, and e-sports to prepare qualified national talent.
Assistant Secretary-General for the Culture Sector at NCCAL Aisha Al-Mahmoud said the forum reflects a strategic partnership with the university, adding that the council is working with partners to support Kuwaiti youth in moving from technology consumption to production.
Dean of the College of Computer Studies at the university Dr. Issa Al-Harbi said the electronic games industry is witnessing rapid growth as an influential economic, cultural, and scientific sector, highlighting its role in skills development, problem-solving, and planning.
Founder and Director of the sector's programs at NCCAL Omaima Al-Saad said the global electronic games industry generated revenues of about USD 197 billion in 2025, with revenues in the Middle East and North Africa reaching USD 7.1 billion.
The forum discusses the future of electronic games and their scientific, cultural, and economic importance, as well as their role in education, engineering, digital marketing, and skills development. (end) mdm.nof.seo
