Sudan PM: Gov't returns to Khartoum

KHARTOUM, Jan 11 (KUNA) -- Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris announced on Sunday the return of his government to the capital Khartoum.
"Today, we return, and the Government of Hope returns to the national capital," Idris told a gathering in Khartoum after nearly three years of operating from its wartime capital of Port Sudan.
He underlined that his government would attach more attention to the improvement of living conditions in the country, mainly healthcare, reconstruction of hospitals and development of educational services.
The Sudanese prime minister regarded the move as a "message of reassurance to citizens and a sign of government commitment to working from the heart of the capital".
The Sudanese government has moved to the Red Sea city of Port Sudan since the eruption of war between the Sudanese army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on April 25, 2023. (end) mam.mt
