ADEN, Jan 7 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council approved on Wednesday the sacking of Transport Minister Abdulsalam Humaid and Planning and International Cooperation Minister Waad Badhib and referred them for investigation alongside Chairperson of the Southern Transitional Council Aidarous Al-Zubaidi.
This came during an emergency meeting held by the Presidential Leadership Council, chaired by President Rashad al-Alimi, to discuss the latest security and military developments in the southern governorates in light of the statement issued by the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy and its serious implications regarding the escalation by some rebel leaders and their obstruction of de-escalation efforts, said the Yemeni News Agency (SABA).
The council stressed the need to pursue and apprehend those involved in distributing weapons and threatening civil peace, and to bring them to justice for their due punishment.
It emphasized that the state will deal firmly with any violations in a manner that ensures respect for the rule of law and the protection of public rights and freedoms.
The council stressed that the unity of military and security decision-making and respect for the chain of command are non-negotiable pillars, emphasizing that any serious breach of these duties will subject the perpetrator to accountability under the constitution and the law.
The council also approved urgent measures to protect civilians and public facilities in Yemen's interim capital Aden and the liberated governorates, to unify command and control over all military and security formations, and to prevent any movements outside the framework of the state.
The council expressed its deep appreciation for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy to deescalate the situation, protect civilians, establish security and stability, and prevent the situation from sliding into new internal confrontations, stressing the state's commitment to implementing its sovereign decisions and preserving its legal status.
