KUWAIT, Jan 6 (KUNA) -- The Public Authority for Housing Welfare announced on Tuesday the signing of two contracts worth KD 36.5 million for the supply, installation and maintenance of underground 400-kilovolt cables to feed four main substations in South Sabah Al-Ahmad City.
Acting Director General Rashid Al-Enezi said the contracts are part of the state's plan to secure electrical infrastructure for new residential cities and ensure the sustainability of vital services.
He said the two contracts cover cable works for four substations with a completion period of 26 months, while construction of power substations continues, with the first phase expected to be completed by July 2026.
He added that infrastructure works in the city are recording advanced progress, with the main roads project achieving 75.79 percent completion last December, while residential infrastructure contracts are progressing on or ahead of schedule.
He affirmed that the projects form a key phase in establishing integrated electrical and service infrastructure, ensuring the city's readiness to receive residents and provide sustainable services in line with national urban development plans. (end) mfs.ahm
