Ousted Venezuela pres. arrives at New York court

NEW YORK, Jan 5 (KUNA) -- A motorcade carrying ousted Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores has arrived at a New York City courthouse ahead of their appearance later Monday to face drug and weapons charges.
Maduro and Flores were held in a federal jail in Brooklyn in New York ahead of arrival at the courthouse, surrounded by armed officers, according to CNN News Network.
They are charged in the US with narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy and weapons offenses.
Following Maduro's capture in a military strike on Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump said the U.S. is "in charge" of Venezuela and warned its interim leader to cooperate or pay a "very big price." (end) ast.mt
