GENEVA, Jan 1 (KUNA) -- Swiss police announced on Thursday that dozens of people have died and around one hundred others were injured, most suffering severe burns, after a major fire broke out at a tourist resort in (Crans-Montana).
The Commander of the Valais Cantonal Police Frederic Gisler said during a press conference that the fire erupted during New Year celebrations at the resort, causing panic, adding that rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately after the alert was received.
According to local media, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear so far, and the nationalities of the victims have not yet been identified. (end)
