RAMALLAH, Dec 30 (KUNA) -- The Israeli occupation government has begun procedures to revoke operating licenses of a number of international relief organizations in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Israeli occupation media reported Tuesday that the Knesset, sent official letters to more than 10 international organizations stipulating the cancellation of their licenses as of January 1, with their activities to be terminated by March 1, 2026.
The decision came after some organizations refused to comply with a condition requiring submission of full lists of their Palestinian employees, claiming that security investigations revealed involvement of staff from Doctors Without Borders in "terrorist activities," without providing evidence.
The Israeli occupation seeks to impose full control over humanitarian organizations in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank through a new mechanism forcing a difficult dilemma between protecting employees or continuing services for Palestinians.
This announcement came hours after the Knesset approved a bill cutting electricity and water supplies to offices of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in occupied Jerusalem, with entry into force.
It is worth noting that the Israeli occupation took similar measures against UNRWA in 2024, when the Knesset approved banning its activities in occupied territories, alleging involvement of some employees in October 2023 events there. (end)
