Russian scientists creating nanostructures using DNA-based building blocks
MOSCOW, Dec 29 (KUNA) -- Russian Academy of Sciences Member Andrei Naumov said Monday that Russian scientists have, for the first time, created nanostructures using DNA-based building blocks, a breakthrough that could expand possibilities in advanced technology and modern medicine.
Quoted by TASS Russian News Agency, Naumov said the new nanostructures could significantly shrink electronic devices, improving efficiency and supporting the global shift toward precise, high-end technologies.
The innovation could also have vital medical uses, such as nanosensors for early diagnosis or smart nanocarriers that deliver drugs directly to targeted cells, which could increase treatment effectiveness and reduce side effects, he added.
Research is at an advanced stage as the team is working to turn it into practical products for industrial and medical use in the coming years, he explained. (end)
