Kuwait hails Yemen prisoner swap deal

KUWAIT, Dec 23 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait welcomes the agreement reached earlier Tuesday in Muscat, the capital of sisterly Oman, on the exchange of prisoners in Yemen.
The agreement represents an important positive step towards building confidence and enhancing the march towards peace and stability in the sisterly republic of Yemen, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
The State of Kuwait appreciates the mediation efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the Office of the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The statement reaffirmed Kuwait's support to efforts aiming to restore security and stability in Yemen and realizing the aspirations of the brotherly people of Yemen. (end) nma.gb
