RIYADH, Dec 17 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Jasem Al-Budaiwi discussed GCC-Yemen relations with Chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Rashad Al-Alimi.
Al-Alimi received Al-Budaiwi in Riyadh where they reviewed Yemen's current situation, particularly recent developments in the Hadhramaut and Al-Mahrah governorates, the GCC Secretariat said in a statement on Wednesday.
Al-Budaiwi reaffirmed the GCC's support for efforts to strengthen security and stability in Yemen, and reiterated the Council's firm backing for the PLC, led by Al-Alimi, and its supporting entities.
He also stressed the need for a comprehensive political solution based on the three reference frameworks, in a way that preserves Yemen's sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and independence.
Meanwhile, Al-Alimi commended the GCC countries' supportive stance, leadership role, and exceptional efforts to assist Yemen across various fields, contributing to greater stability and development. (end) as.nsa.lr
