RABAT, Dec 15 (KUNA) -- Moroccan authorities announced on Monday that the death toll from the thunderstorms that struck Safi Province in western Morocco late Sunday has risen to 37, following sudden and powerful flash floods triggered by the heavy rainfall.
In a statement, local authorities said that 14 people are currently receiving medical treatment and two patients are in intensive care.
The statement added that intervention efforts by public authorities, civil protection services, security forces, and other relevant agencies are ongoing. These efforts include search and rescue operations, field inspections, emergency assistance, and the provision of support to affected residents.
Local authorities stressed the importance of maintaining a high level of vigilance and exercising maximum caution amid the severe climatic fluctuations currently affecting the kingdom, in order to protect lives and property and reduce potential risks. (end)
