Kuwait affirms advocacy of investing in the youth for sustainable development

JEDDAH, Dec 14 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait on Sunday affirmed its faith in investing in the youth as the hinges for sustainable development and social peace.
The renewed Kuwait stand on the issue was demonstrated by the diplomatic attache at the foreign ministry, Zainab Al-Mansouri, during a debate themed "youth development in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation: Challenges and opportunities from the human rights perspective," held during the 26th session of the OIC permanent human rights committee.
The fact that 70 percent of the Kuwaiti people are youngsters aged under 35 doubles the responsibility on the state for securing an environment supporting their rights and chances, she said, indicating at the cohabitation of the national policies with goals of the 2030 sustainable development for boosting and empowering the youth rights.
Elaborating, Al-Mansouri noted that the Public Authority for Youth launched its 2025-2030 strategy for developing leading, digital skills, backing innovation, creating new jobs and engaging the juniors in decision making.
Kuwait, through its membership in the UN Human Rights Council, has affirmed its support for human dignity, equality, non-discrimination and creating equal opportunities for the youngsters to be engaged in the public life and development, the diplomat added.
She called on the OIC member states to swap youth expertise and grant the young citizens greater opportunities for decision making participation.
Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Al-Duaij Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti assistant foreign minister, has headed the Kuwaiti delegation in the current session, along with participation of the State of Kuwait General Consul in Jeddah and the Permanent Delegate at the OIC, Yusuf Al-Tunaib, the advisor with the Kuwaiti mission at the organization, Turki Al-Daihani, in addition to Al-Mansouri.
