KUWAIT, Dec 11 (KUNA) -- Minister of Information, Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi held talks Thursday with visiting French Minister for Foreign Trade Nicolas Forissier on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of media, culture and technology.
During their meeting, the two ministers reviewed the deep-rooted relations between the two nations.
They affirmed the importance of expanding partnerships, particularly in media, content creation, modern technical infrastructure, investment opportunities, intellectual property protection and support for creative industries.
The two ministers toured the digital television archiving project carried out by the Ministry of Information in cooperation with a specialized French company, one of the largest digitization initiatives in Kuwait's government media sector.
The meeting was attended by French Ambassador to Kuwait Olivier Gauvin, the accompanying delegation and senior officials from the Ministry of Information.
Minister Al-Mutairi presented a commemorative shield to Minister Forissier.
The archiving project aims to renovate, digitize and catalog historic cinematic films and magnetic television tapes of Kuwait TV, according to the highest international standards.
It includes developing an advanced search and retrieval system and establishing modern platforms to safeguard media materials and make them accessible to content creators and researchers, in line with the ministry's plan to modernize its digital infrastructure and preserve Kuwait's decades-old television heritage.
