Former Pakistani intelligence chief sentenced 14 yrs imprisonment

ISLAMABAD, Dec 11 (KUNA) -- The Former Chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed was sentenced by a Field General Court Martial to 14 years rigorous imprisonment, said a press release on Thursday.
The statement, published by Pakistan military's media wing said that the trial, which extended for 15 months, was initiated against Faiz Hameed, under provisions of Pakistan Army Act.
The accused was convicted on four charges related to political activities, including violation of official secret act againts the safety and interest of the State, misuse of authority and government resources, and causing wrongful loss to persons.
"After lengthy and laborious legal proceedings, Hameed founded guilty on all charges and sentenced to 14 years rigorous imprisonment by the Court, which has been promulgated on 11 December 2025," the release added.
It said that the Field General Court Martial complied with all legal provisions, adding that the accused was afforded with all legal rights including rights of defense team of his choice.
The convict has the right of appeal at a relevant forum.
"Involvement of convict in fomenting vested political agitation and instability in cahoots with political elements and in certain other matters is separately being dealt with," the release concluded. (end) sbk.nhq
