Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to China Jassem Al-Najem with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu
BEIJING, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- The Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to China, Jassem Al-Najem, affirmed on Wednesday the need to speed up the pace of joint projects with China to achieve mutual benefit for both countries.
This statement came during Ambassador Al-Najem's meeting with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu at the Foreign Ministry in Beijing.
Ambassador Al-Najem said that bilateral relations saw significant developments in various fields, attributing such success to the high-level visits carried out by officials from both countries
He affirmed Kuwait's keenness on expanding its partnership with China, exploring all means to help boost ties and achieve mutual benefits.
The Kuwaiti diplomat commended the partnership with China, especially within economic and commercial cooperation, adding that Kuwait was working on ambitious programs and major development projects, and would welcome Chinese government companies to explore opportunities within this framework.
He affirmed Kuwait's support for the second China-Arab States Summit to be held in Beijing next year, pointing out that Kuwait was ready to provide all assistance to make the event successful.
Ambassador Al-Najem said that the meeting with Deyu discussed several important issues, including China's honorable stance on the just Palestinian cause, for which Beijing expressed condemnation of violations of international and humanitarian laws carried out by the Israeli occupation.
For his part, Vice Foreign Minister Deyu lauded the tremendous development of Kuwaiti-Chinese relations due to the directives of both countries' leaderships.
He pointed out that next year, China and Kuwait will celebrate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties, affirming that China would work to further boost strategic partnership with Kuwait.
He expressed his country's readiness to host the China-Arab States Summit in 2026, adding that his country was looking forward to boost ties with Kuwait and the Arab World.
He revealed that President Xi Jinping announced recently a USD 100 million package of assistance for the people of Palestine, an important step highlighting Beijing's eagerness to help the Palestinian cause.
Kuwait and China signed several MoUs in 2023 to expand cooperation, especially in the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project and Kuwait's power grid.
MoUs also included cooperation in renewable energy, green low-carbon emission systems, recycling, the free trade zone, as well as housing and infrastructural development projects. (end)
