DOHA, Dec 8 (KUNA) -- Head coach of Kuwait football team Helio Sousa said on Monday the match between the Kuwaiti and UAE teams, due on Tuesday as part of the third and last round of the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup, would be "difficult in the face of a strong foe," affirming the resolve to center on making "a positive result."
Sousa, speaking at a news conference, said the match, due at Stadium 974, "would be yet another good challenge for us as we seek to evolve our tasks," noting that a number of the UAE players enjoy huge experience.
The two teams seek to qualify to the second round "and this match must be won," Sousa added.
Sousa reiterated his long-term strategy aimed at "creating victorious mentality" and praised the Kuwaiti players' performance in the tournament.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti player Fahad Al-Hajri affirmed that tomorrow's game would be hard because the two teams "are bent on winning and qualifying."
Cosmin Olariou, the UAE team coach, said his team's opportunity to qualify to the second round "still exists. "Victory must be attained," he said.
The Jordanian team has secured qualification to the second round, topping the C Group after beating Kuwait and the UAE.
Kuwait, the UAE and Egypt are competing to qualify.
The Egyptians have two points due to playing draw matches against Kuwait and the UAE vis a vis a single point for each of Kuwait and the UAE. (end)
