WHO condemns attacks on kindergarten in Sudan's South Kordofan

GENEVA, Dec 5 (KUNA) -- Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Monday condemned the repeated strikes in Sudanآ’s South Kordofan state hit a kindergarten and at least three times the nearby (Kalogi) Rural Hospital, killing 114 people, including 63 children, and injuring 35 people.
He reported in a post on his official account (X) that survivors from the 4 December attacks have been moved to (Abu Jebaiha) Hospital in (South Kordofan) for treatment, adding that urgent calls are being made for blood donations and other medical support.
He also expressed concern over attacks against paramedics and responders as they tried to move the injured from the kindergarten to the hospital.
He said that WHO deplores these senseless attacks on civilians and health facilities and renewed his call for an end to the violence and increased access to humanitarian aid including health. (end) imk.mt
