KUWAIT, Dec 8 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Mashari emphasized Monday the necessity of adopting modern digital technologies to keep pace with development requirements and enhance performance, thereby developing the housing sector in Kuwait and modernizing the municipal system.
This came during Minister Al-Mashari's speech at the opening of the Gulf Digital Building Forum 2025, organized by the Kuwaiti Federation of Engineering Offices and Consulting Houses (KFEOCH).
He stated that this forum addresses one of the most important issues related to the future of the construction and urban development sector in Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which is the the digital transformation in construction, city management, and facilities management.
This transformation has direct implications for the quality of engineering work, the effectiveness of infrastructure, and the efficiency of both public and private projects.
Al-Mashari pointed out that Kuwait Municipality and the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) are working to implement these digital methodologies to enhance the quality of plans, expedite project completion, and improve the efficiency of facility and property management in new cities and residential areas.
He added that in recent years, there have been significant advancements in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its role in improving project management, reducing waste, and enhancing the quality of outputs.
This is coupled with the rapid expansion of smart city and facilities management applications, which have become a pivotal part of the modern urban development system.
Al-Mashari commended the efforts of KFEOCH and its commitment to enabling the local engineering sector to adopt these digital methodologies and tools according to the highest international standards.
He affirmed the Ministry of Municipality and PAHW's belief in the importance of this partnership and their support for it to ensure the achievement of sustainable development goals and Kuwait Vision 2035.
This forum serves as a strategic communication channel between governmental and legislative bodies and engineering firms to develop national policies and standards and support the widespread adoption of modern technologies in major projects.
Al-Mashari expressed his hope that the forum would succeed in achieving its objectives and produce practical recommendations to build an advanced digital engineering system and solidify Kuwait's position as a leading platform in the digital construction and smart city sectors.
For his part, Chairman of KFEOCH Bader Al-Salman said in a similar statement that the governmental and private sponsorship of the forum aims to leverage its outcomes to implement them in the desired construction projects and to provide governmental support to enhance cooperation with the private sector, which is currently experiencing remarkable growth.
He expressed his hope that this forum would serve as a direct communication channel, laying the foundation for a working strategy between engineering offices and governmental and legislative bodies to develop national policies and standards.
The initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of BIM in both government and private projects, and to promote the application of smart city technologies and the management of modern facilities and major projects.
