Kuwait Communications Min.: Arab award to "Sahel" reflects backing to digitalization
By Fajer Al-Hajri KUWAIT, Dec 4 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of State for Communication Affairs Omar Al-Omar said Thursday the Arab League's honoring of Kuwait's Sahel App. reflects the political leadership's support for Kuwait's digitalization.
"We are honored to win this award and consider it a crucial point for advancing governmental services and promoting inter-body integration," the minister said to KUNA.
Al-Omar voiced thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah for their continued backing to the development of digital services in the country.
He regarded this accomplishment as the fruit of collective national efforts involving more than 42 state bodies, which all share the vision of producing a smart digital experience based on confidence and data.
The minister underlined his ministry's commitment to keeping building on what has been achieved and completing Sahel App. development phases as well as advancing the experience.
For his part, Spokesman for the Sahel App. Yousuf Kathem said that this honoring is the source of pride for the government of the State of Kuwait and proves its relentless effort of providing better services.
He added that this awarding shows that the governmental app. has proved success for four years, reflecting public confidence in governmental integration and state insistence on digitalization.
Earlier in the day, the State of Kuwait won two awards, subsidiaries of the Arab Government Excellence Award -- the fourth edition.
The winners were honored at the Arab League Secretariat General's headquarters, with attendance of Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul-Gheit and Mohammad Al-Gerqawi, the president of the board of trustees of the UAE award.
Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) won half of the award of the top initiative for overhauling government tasks. The other half was given to an Egyptian information association.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Communications was also honored for Sahel App.
The award shields were handed over by the State of Kuwait Permanent Representative at the Arab League, Ambassador Talal Al-Mutairi.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the honored entities. (end) fh.mt
