China announces USD 100 mln in aid for Palestine

BEIJING, Dec 4 (KUNA) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping announced on Thursday that China will provide USD 100 million in financial aid to Palestine to help ease the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and support reconstruction and the return of normal life.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the announcement came during the Chinese President's meeting with the French President Emmanuel Macron, who arrived in Beijing on Wednesday for a three-day official visit.
President Xi Jinping said that China will work with France to push for a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue as soon as possible. He stressed the importance of both countries maintaining strategic vision, mutual support, and the political foundations of their bilateral relations despite global changes.
The Chinese president highlighted the strong economic ties between Beijing and Paris, noting that bilateral trade reached USD 68.8 billion in the first 10 months of 2025, while two-way investment exceeded USD 27 billion.
He called for expanding cooperation in traditional sectors such as aviation, space, and nuclear energy, as well as new areas including green and digital economies, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and new energy.
On China-EU relations, President Xi Jinping said that the strong economic links between China and Europe are beneficial, not harmful. He warned that trying to separate their economies or limit trade would damage supply chains, calling on both sides to keep cooperating in a way that supports shared and stable growth.
Regarding the Ukraine crisis, the Chinese resident reaffirmed China's support for all efforts aimed at achieving peace and said Beijing will continue playing a constructive role in reaching a fair and sustainable settlement through dialogue. He also expressed support for building a balanced and effective European security framework.
On his part, the French President reiterated France's commitment to the One China policy and expressed readiness to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership, and emphasized enhancing cooperation in investment, trade, renewable energy, and cultural exchange, as well as coordinating with China on multilateral issues, climate change, and AI governance.
Following their talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements in nuclear energy, agriculture, education, and environmental protection. (end) slq.dss
