Trump: Recent talks with Putin on Ukraine "positive"

WASHINGTON, Dec 4 (KUNA) -- President Donald Trump said late Wednesday that talks between Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and the US delegation -- headed by Senior Advisor to the President Jared Kushner and Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff -- over the war in Ukraine were positive.
Speaking to the press at the White House, President Trump expressed views that Putin "would like to end the war," adding that this was the impression he had from the US delegation.
"Their impression was that he would like to see the war ended. I think he'd like to get back to a more normal life. I think he'd like to be trading with the United States of America, frankly, instead of losing thousands of soldiers a week," he added.
The Kremlin announced late Tuesday that five-hour talks on ending the war in Ukraine has concluded. The meeting focused on an adjusted US plan to end the four-year war.
The meeting in Russia came after a similar event in Florida last Sunday, which was described by US Foreign Secretary Marco Rubio as "highly productive". (end) amm.gta
