1949 -- The health department bought the first ambulance vehicle, a Ford that could carry more than a patient at once.
1958 -- The first edition of Al-Arabi magazine was published. The magazine, released by the Ministry of Information, was read in all Arab countries. Thee first Chief Editor was Ahmad Zaki.
1959 -- The supreme council managing state affairs assigned "Al-Maaref" department to oversee private academies, schools and other educational institutions and empowers it to issue work permits in the sector.
1960 -- The first edition of the journal, "Tabib Al-Mojtamaa," or community physician, was issued. The monthly journal was published by the guidance and education division of the public health department.
1975 -- State of Kuwait signed an agreement to render all rights of BB Kuwait Company and Gulf Kuwait to the State, provided that the government pays the two companies USD 50.5 million.
1986 -- Kuwaiti society for specialized Studies and Research was established with the objective of promoting research over social, political, economic and cultural issues within society 1995 -- The trial issue of Qortas weekly magazine issued, the first publication specialized in affairs of publication and books.
1999 -- The National Mobile Telecommunications Company was inaugurated. It was founded on October 12, 1997.
2007 -- The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), now the Arab Energy Organization (ANO), named the Kuwaiti representative at the organization, Abbas Naqi, as its secretary general with a three-year term.
2010 -- State of Kuwait hosted the international conference for donors for East Sudan, featuring participation of 39 countries, 28 international organizations and 73 NGOs, during which Kuwait donated USD 500 million for infrastructure projects and social services in East Sudan.
2012 -- Kuwaiti voters headed to the polls to elect 50 members of the National Assembly according to the five constituency and single vote system.
2013 -- Yousef Al-Abdulrazzaq won the world jet ski championship held in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
2016 -- The renowned Kuwaiti poet and writer Sheikha Dr. Suad Al-Sabah won the Arab Woman Award in recognition of her role in promoting status of Arab women, service of culture and Arabic language.
2020 -- Kuwait University adopted the online learning system in line with directions by the ministry of health to cope with the coronavirus outbreak.
2024 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah opened the 45th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, held in the State of Kuwait. (end) bs
