Acting Director General of Kuwait's Public Authority for Industry (PAI) Shamlan Al-Juhaidli
RIYADH, Nov 27 (KUNA) -- Acting Director General of Kuwait's Public Authority for Industry (PAI) Shamlan Al-Juhaidli praised the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for carrying out over 900 development programs and initiatives across 130 countries worldwide.
Al-Juhaidli said in his speech at the 21st UNIDO General Conference in Riyadh, held on Thursday, that these initiatives focused on industrial innovation, clean energy, supply chain development, and enhancing the productive efficiency of developing countries.
He highlighted UNIDO's programs for helping cut over 15 million tons of emissions annually through circular economy practices and clean technologies.
This supports global efforts to protect the environment and balance economic growth with environmental sustainability, he added.
Al-Juhaidli stressed the need to support national industries and boost their competitiveness and innovation, in line with UNIDO's goals of enhancing international cooperation, sharing expertise, and empowering women and youth, as well as with the Sustainable Development Goals and the UN 2030 Agenda.
The Kuwaiti delegation also took part in a high-level roundtable that reviewed countriesآ’ policies on localizing value-added industries and explored ways to benefit from these approaches. (end)
