NEW DELHI, Nov 27 (KUNA) --Ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries discussed Gulf-India relations and ways to enhance it and coordinating stands that serve the common interests of the GCC and India.
This came during a meeting of the GCC ambassadors in New Delhi at the invitation of Kuwait Ambassador to India, Meshal Mustafa Alshemali as the current chair of the GCC Ambassadors Council.
The meeting discussed GCC-India relations and ways to strengthen it while exploring bolstering coordinated positions.
Ambassador Al-Shemali told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the GCC ambassadors praised Kuwait's efforts during its presidency of the 45th session of the Council, which represented a significant milestone that embodied the journey of joint Gulf cooperation and reinforced the principles upon which this entity was founded.
He added that the meeting witnessed sharing of Gulf visions and ideas to support the joint Gulf action to tackle current challenges and achieve a brighter, more stable, and more prosperous future for the GCC and its people.
Discussions focused on the latest developments on the local, regional, and international scenes, as well as progress on the free trade agreement between the GCC and India.
Emphasis was placed on the importance of strengthening economic and trade relations with India, increasing mutual investments, and exploring new areas of cooperation, particularly in food security, cybersecurity, energy, trade, and investment in education and modern technologies.
Ambassador of Bahrain Abdulrahman Al-Qaoud, Ambassador of Oman Issa Al-Shaibani, Ambassador of Qatar Mohammad Al-Jaber, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Haitham Al-Maliki, and the Charge d'Affaires of the UAE Embassy, Abdulaziz Al-Hashemi took part in the meeting. (end)
