Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi
KUWAIT, Nov 19 (KUNA) -- Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi launched on Wednesday "Salem," the official application of health services in the State of Kuwait, as part of the digital transformation strategy of his Ministry.
The new app facilitates patients' access to health services through easy booking hospital and clinic appointments, and quick handling of medical records, he said.
SalemApp replaces Kuwait 'seha' app in enabling citizens and expatriates to securely and quickly access health services and manage their health profiles easily, the minister affirmed.
He made the comments during a video presentation of the app at the Center for Government Communication (CGC) in the presence of Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Saud Al-Omar and senior officials of the Ministry of Health.
The application provides users with timely alerts about their upcoming appointments and preventive checkups, and enables them to view the results of lab tests, medical records and medications.
It is linked to other competent government services to facilitate sharing of medical information and quick response to emergencies, the minister added.
He affirmed that the Ministry of Health would continue expanding use of the app to cover public health programs, chronic disease control, pharmaceutical services and healthcare at home.
On his part, Al-Omar congratulated Al-Awadhi on the new digital achievement, saying it reflected the keenness of the Ministry of Health on upgrading its e-services.
He said the Minister of State for Communications Affairs was ready to offer any technical help to the Ministry of Health in linking to the national portal to share data and provide integrated services to citizens and residents.
Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Digital Affairs Eng. Adel Al-Rashedi said that SalemApp gave a quantum leap to the digital transformation in healthcare in Kuwait.
More than 30 health systems have been merged together in one portal to collect over 100 million health data in one place with a view to facilitating access to medical information, he disclosed.
Spokesman of the Ministry of Health Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said that SalemApp was one of the new generation of Ministry's e-services and the fruit of two decades of efforts to modernize the health services.
Digitization of health services is one of the pillars of the national development plan and Kuwait Vision 2035, he added. (end)
