KHARTOUM, Nov 19 (KUNA) - The Kuwait-based Namaa society has offered a package of relief and development assistance to displaced and poor families in Kismayo city in Somalia.
Speaking to KUNA in a statement on Wednesday, Khaled Al-Shammari, head of Namaa's projects sector, said the aid included distributing 230 food baskets, building two houses, inaugurating two wells and operating a water desalination plant, with a capacity of 5,000 liters per hour.
Such projects are carried out as part of Kuwait's humanitarian support for vulnerable families in Somalia and aim to mitigate the suffering of those displaced as well as ensure clean water and food access to the largest number of families, he added.
Assistance also included offering aid to mosques and Islamic centers in the city to help it enhance its societal services.
Some beneficiaries affirmed that the aid came at a very critical time as it has contributed to improving their living conditions.
They thanked Kuwait, its leadership, government and people for continued humanitarian efforts. (end) mam.hm
