Health authorities: 6,000 amputation cases during war on Gaza Strip

GAZA, Nov 11 (KUNA) -- Health authorities in the Gaza Strip announced on Tuesday that 6,000 amputation cases were registered during the war on Gaza, requiring urgent-long term rehabilitation programs amid a lack of medical facilities, psychological support, and tools, increasing the suffering of amputees.
The percentage of children out of the total number of cases is estimated at 25 percent, and the percentage of women is 12.7 percent, added the health authorities.
They urged all international and humanitarian organizations, as well as institutions working in the field of health and rehabilitation, to intensify their efforts and expand urgent interventions to meet the needs of the wounded and help them receive the necessary care.
The health authorities had previously indicated that the number of injuries during the war reached more than 170,694, while the number of dead exceeded 69,182. (end) wab.sas
