NEW DELHI, Nov 10 (KUNA) -- At least eight people were killed and 24 others injuerd on Monday in a blast near Red Fort Metro station in Delhi.
The Press Trust of India said quoting officials that a high-intensity explosion ripped through a car parked near the Red Fort metro station, killing at least eight people, injuring 24 others and gutting several vehicles.
Eyewitnesses said body parts could be seen scattered near the blast site. Delhi has been put on a high alert as 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot with police cordoning off the area, while a team of the National Investigation Agency reached the spot.
"The blast occurred in a car parked near Red Fort metro station gate number 1. The intensity was quite high. Injuries are feared," said a senior official of Delhi Fire Service.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the situation after the blast and spoke with Home Minister Amit Shah. (end)
