Security operations kill 20 militants in N. Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (KUNA) -- Pakistanآ’s security forces killed 20 militants in two separate engagements in Pakistanآ’s northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province bordering Afghanistan, said military on Monday.
According to a press release by Pakistan militaryآ’s media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), on reported presence of militants, an intelligence-based operation was conducted by the security forces in general area Shawal of North Waziristan tribal district in KPK.
During the conduct of the operation, Pakistani troops effectively engaged the militantsآ’ location and killed eight militants, it said.
Another intelligence-based operation was conducted in Dara Adam Khel district of KPK and after an intense exchange of fire, 12 more militants were effectively neutralized, it added.
Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other militant found in the area as relentless Counter Terrorism campaign by security forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country, said ISPR.
The security operation comes at a time when Pakistan is witnessing a rise in terror attacks especially in KPK and Balochistan provinces bordering Afghanistan. (end) sbk.mt
