CAIRO, Nov 10 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan emphasized the need to unify efforts and enhance Arab integration in the transport and logistics sector, describing it as a key pillar of economic development and regional connectivity.
Speaking on Monday while chairing the 38th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Transport, Al-Meshaan said the meeting's agenda includes strategic items that form a roadmap for advancing the Arab transport system, including support for the Palestinian economy and the development of infrastructure and essential services in Jerusalem - reaffirming the region's consistent stance.
She highlighted additional agenda items such as standardizing axle-load and dimension regulations for trucks operating between Arab states, activating the unified Arab land transport digital portal, and adopting smart and sustainable transport components within national strategies.
Al-Meshaan also noted that the agenda stresses boosting cooperation in maritime, rail, and river transport to improve port connectivity, enhance logistics efficiency, and strengthen partnerships with the Arab private sector, alongside encouraging investment in modern technologies to improve operational performance and reduce costs.
She affirmed Kuwait's commitment, during its presidency of the council, to supporting joint Arab cooperation and called for collective action to translate resolutions into tangible achievements.
The meeting is attended by Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport and Industry Kamel Al-Wazeer, Arab transport ministers, and Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs of the Arab League, Ambassador Dr. Ali Al-Malki. (pickup previous) mm.dss
