KUWAIT, Nov 9 (KUNA) -- The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kuwait Hans-Christian von Reibnitz praised on Sunday the close relations between the two countries as well as Kuwait's role in promoting regional and international peace and stability.
Ambassador Hans-Christian made this remark during a reception held by the German Embassy in the country on the occasion of Germany's National Day.
The celebration was attended by Kuwait's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Nader Al-Jalal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Meshal Al-Sabah, and a number of heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations in the country.
Ambassador Hans-Christian said that relations between Germany and Kuwait are based on mutual respect.
He pointed to the strategic dialogue framework signed between the two sides last year and the exchange of high-level visits from officials of both countries.
He expressed hope that the pace of cooperation between the two countries would continue to accelerate and expand in all areas.
In this regard, he expressed gratitude to all officials who contributed to deepen these ties.
Regarding the embassy's celebration, Ambassador Hans-Christian noted that it coincides with the eruption of peaceful demonstrations in East German cities on November 9, 1989 that ultimately led to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of 40 years of Germany's division.
In this moment peace was achieved through peaceful change and the people's will for freedom and unity, he boasted. (end)
