CAIRO, Nov 9 (KUNA) -- The 47th session of Executive Office of Council of Arab Ministers of Transport kicked off in Cairo on Sunday, focusing on a single pan-Arab strategy to develop sustainable transport, promote logistic connectivity and develop land, sea and air transport.
Addressing the meeting, Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister and Industry Minister Kamel Al-Wazeer underlined the significance of this Arab transport strategy, calling for a further promotion of Arab cooperation in addressing global economic challenges.
Al-Wazeer, who chaired the gathering, said it is necessary to bolster Arab cooperation in this stage in particular in order to face economic and geopolitical challenges, including the fallout of the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israeli occupation aggression on Gaza as well as Red Sea security tensions.
He added that the agenda features vital topics and subjects, including the necessity of supporting the Palestinian economy, developing land, sea and air transport and updating passenger and cargo transport agreements.
For his part, the Arab League's Transport Department Chief Bahjat Abu Al-Nasr voiced hope that the gathering could lead to attaining the aspired goals, elaborating that the agenda includes 26 items to be discussed, then referred to the council's 38th session due in Cairo on Monday. (end)
